Student Program

The 39th USAEE/IAEE North American Conference in Houston, Texas, will have many events organized specifically for student attendees.

If you are a student in the field of energy economics, come share your work, meet mentors, grow professionally, build your resume, and throw your hat in the ring for the potential to win cash prizes! Whether or not you will present your work in one of the conference’s concurrent sessions, we invite you to participate in the five activities described below. Case Competition

August | Finalists Present at Conference

Think you have what it takes to be the best consultant in the field of energy economics? Assemble a team and address a complex problem for a hypothetical client. For this event, you will compete in a month-long case using economics, engineering, and policy analysis for the chance to win up to $3,500. The case will require a mix of smart quantitative and qualitative solutions as well as effective communication via a final report. Click here for more information.

Looking for a relaxed and inclusive environment to present your work and get dedicated feedback from your colleagues? Join students from across the country studying energy economics at this student-only event held before the main conference opens. Present your work and get feedback from other attendees led by an assigned discussant. Do you have what it takes to sell your research better than the rest? Showcase a poster of your work to conference attendees and a panel of judges in competition for a cash prize. Join fellow student attendees Monday night at the Omni Houston Hotel’s Black Swan nightclub following the first day of the conference. This student-focused social event is a great way to connect with colleagues, discuss the conference activities from Sunday and Monday, and unwind from the day with some fun.
